Some designs are not invented — they are summoned from memory.

The Sidra table runner did not begin in the studio, but in nature — where the Sidr tree grows generously across all regions of Kuwait. A tree whose fruits (the Kinar) are eaten, whose leaves are known in some cultures as Nabq, and which people love for its authentic nature and its place in homes and hearts.

Between Six Sketches — This Design Was Born

My journey with this runner began on paper, with a simple pencil and a sincere desire to translate this tree into a design that pulses with its quiet beauty.

I worked through six different sketches, each with its own spirit and details, until my heart settled on a single branch carrying Kinar fruits in its classic beauty.

I chose to scatter the tree's small flowers lightly across the surface of the runner — as if they had fallen naturally — to break the repetition and add a touch of vitality.

Between Light and Ink: The Production Steps

I used a Light Box to transfer the drawing with precision, then colored it in different ways until I reached a color balance that satisfied me. In the end, I settled on this version:

• A warm beige background (a shade resembling glowing sand)
• Gradients of muted, soft green and earthy orange, inspired by the color of the tree's leaves and its ripe Kinar fruits

A Design That Evokes Nature in a Luxurious Fabric

The Sidra runner is made from Italian satin fabric, with a soft touch and a subtle sheen, strong enough to withstand repeated washing without losing its elegance or color.

Table Styling: Between Classic and Modern

I paired it with a separate placemat in the same colors and pattern as the runner, but with a different arrangement. The goal? To create a visual balance that merges classic detail with modern distribution.
